In Sept. 2004, Young Israel was delighted to welcome its new morah d'asrah, Rabbi Jonathan Muskat. Rabbi Muskat received his Semichah from Yeshiva University; A Masters Degree in Medieval Jewish History and a Bachelors Degree in Jewish Studies, Speech and Drama; and a Law Degree from New York University. His experiences include extensive outreach activity in the former Soviet Union; advanced study in Yerushalayim, where he gained expertise in issues of halacha and infertility, medicine and family purity; and a prior pulpit position in Los Angeles. Rabbi Muskat also teaches Limudei Kodesh in Rambam Mesivta and HAFTR. Rabbi Muskat, his wife Yael, a Clinical Psychologist, and their five young children have injected a spirit of warmth, energy and electricity throughout the community.
